Sumario:Towards the end of the seventies, the militants of MIR (Movimiento de Izquierda Revolucionaria) exiled in Europe, decided to return to Chile in order to support the fight against the military dictatorship. The ones who could would help through legal means, others through clandestinity. Many had children and couldn't return with them. So the idea of a community center to shelter these children was born. Project Home (i.e., Proyecto Hogares) gathered 60 kids that were left to the care of 20 people who assumed the responsibility of their upbringing for the years to come. By reconstructing her past from memories, letters, childhood drawings and animation, Macarena Aguiló Marchi attempts to understand why her parents sent her abroad to be raised by strangers while they risked their lives back in Chile fighting the Pinochet regime. 'El edificio de los chilenos' is a film about children who lost their parents under the relocation project Proyecto Hogares, as well as the parents who not only lost the Revolution, but any chance of ever seeing their children again.
