|a Man's capacity to alter nature by dominating and domesticating it through the use of technology, information systems and fossil fuels is so great that if care is not taken the entire territory can become a desert. Synecology is the branch of ecology that deals with this reality by studying how different groups of species, populations or communities relate to the environment in which they live. The agricultural use of nature and the degree of intervention in the territory are determined by the vision that society has on these issues. This book helps in a decisive way to weigh the different factors that affect a rational and sustainable management of our forage natural resources and presents for the first time the bases on which the method of measuring the condition of an ecosystem is based. In the case of grasslands, a basic input for livestock activity, although one of the main objectives is to maintain high productivity, synecological management is key, since it is necessary to understand the factors that will determine the long-term sustainability of that community. . This book is aimed at teachers and students of agronomy, forestry engineering, natural resources and careers related to applied ecology, as well as professionals, researchers and ranchers who use grasslands. A unique work in Chile that cooperates in the development of efficient and responsible agricultural management.
