But despite this high status, the "Bore wuzhi lun" has not yet been explored against its religious-political background at the time, which is due on the one hand to the previous research approach, which was to view the text isolated from other contemporary works and debates from a philosophical perspective. On the other hand, the "Bore wuzhi lun" is written in a language and form of argument that is difficult for the modern reader to understand, which makes it significantly more difficult to understand the content. In The Enlightenment of the North, Christian Streif opens up a new perspective by contextualizing the "Bore wuzhi lun" with contemporary debates and the translation project by Kumarajiva (350-409) and highlights the central theme of the work. It is shown that the representation and Apologetics of the Bodhisattva idea occupy a central position, which was, however, viewed extremely critically and from a clearly political perspective by Sengzhao's contemporaries the East Asian Buddhism central idea of salvation of the Bodhisattva and its reception in China. | ||
