Sumario: | The principal purpose of the book is to record as accurately as possible the farm policy of the United States from 1948 to 1973. Thus, the book focuses on the policy actions of the government, the direct consequences of those actions, and the leading actors in the drama, not on policy analyses or policy literature of the period. The book is designed to inform the student and analyst what the USA did and how we did it, in the farm policy area, between 1948 and 1973. The program data presented in the book come almost entirely from materials published by divisions of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In sum, the farm policy record presented in this volume is based almost entirely on the wealth of data and information disseminated by the USDA over the years with regard to farm policies and programs. |
