Sumario:This Excel workbook is set up to calculate flow rate through a Parshall flume based on measured head for either free flow or submerged flow conditions. One worksheet is used to determine whether the flow through a Parshall flume of specifed throat width, upstream head, and downstream head is free flow or submerged flow. The Free Flow worksheet calculates the flow rate through the flume for user-specified throat width and upstream head for any of the given standard throat widths in the ranges from 1 inch to 18 inches or 2 ft to 50 ft. The Submerged Flow worksheet calculates the flow rate through the flume for user-specified throat width, upstream head, and downstream head for any of the given standard throat widths. The VLookup function is used in the Free Flow worksheet and in the Submerged Flow worksheet to obtain values for needed constants for user-specified throat width.
