Sumario:The most time consuming part of any convection heat transfer calculation is obtaining a good value for the convection heat transfer coefficient. This Excel workbook calculates the convection coefficient for three natural convection heat transfer configurations: 1. Vertical plane 2. Horizontal plane 3. Horizontal cylinder. The user inputs the surface temperature, fluid temperature, and dimensions specific to the configuration. For air or water, the workbook calculates the required fluid properties at the film temperature. For other fluids, the user can enter the fluid properties directly.
