Sumario:The Society of Light and Lighting first published guidance on emergency lighting in 1986. Since then there have been enormous developments in the legal framework for emergency lighting and understanding of how it can best be used to assist escape from buildings. This Lighting Guide gives advice on the design of emergency escape lighting schemes and installations for all users of buildings and associated areas. It covers the relevant regulations, standards and requirements. It outlines available equipment and materials and gives guidance on their selection, installation, operation and maintenance. The Guide is aimed at, and will be useful to, specifiers, designers, equipment providers, installers, users, maintainers and enforcing authorities. The most pertinent sections to particular readers are: Sections 2, 3 and 4, to specifiers, designers, users, maintainers and enforcing authorities; Section 5 to designers and luminaire providers; Sections 6, 7 and 8 to specifiers and designers; Sections 8, 9 and 10 to installers, users and maintainers; Sections 9 and 10 to users, maintainers and enforcing authorities. This Guide makes use of several relevant international, European and British Standards and is a companion to BS 5266 Emergency lighting. --
