Eric Weisbard argues that we have to fully grapple with the rich and varied meanings that emerge at this dog-themed nexus in this history of rock 'n' roll, R&B, punk, and pop music. Through Elvis' "Hound Dog" single, Weisbard rethinks the story of rock 'n' roll's origins and influences, race and commodification (love and theft, noun to verb), to listen for cross-racial registers of whiteness"--
