|a "More-than-human entities such as animals, plant life, water, and soil, fall outside the frame of international laws of war, armed conflict and the environment, and humanitarian law-except as forms of human property. They can thus be exposed to violent biopolitical regimes of obliteration with impunity. By deploying the concept of forensic ecologies, Biopolitics of the More than Human enlarges the biopolitical aperture in order to focus on other-than-human entities that are also the targets of armed conflict and occupation. Examining the occupied Palestinian territories, Guantánamo, and the U.S. drone killing fields of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, the book challenges anthropocentric notions of human exceptionalism by focusing on the more-than-human entities that are deeply entangled with their human relations and that have their own claims to ethical consideration and justice. Situated in the context of states of war, the book argues that more-than-human entities persist in articulating the urgent need for an ethical awakening critical to the realization of ecological justice"--
