Sumario:The Institutions of Gaius, although conceived as a modest work aimed at teaching law on an elementary scale, is undoubtedly the most important text that has been written if we consider it from the point of view of its historical influence. His systematic, didactic and orderly tone, away from the casuistic style of the great Roman jurists, captivated the Romanistics of the Renaissance and contributed to exalt a fame that Gaius had already gained since the fourth century among law scholars. More than one article of our Civil Code reproduces the content of the Institutions almost verbatim.
