Sumario: | Is the ethnic condition a relevant factor in the configuration of inequity and inequality in the Chilean school system? How is this system being transformed to recognize, include and value cultural differences? What relationship are Indigenous populations establishing with educational policies and programs? How are teaching processes evolving in these intercultural spaces? Today we are witnessing vertiginous cultural and social changes in Chilean society, which, without a doubt, have promoted important reforms in education and educational systems. It is in this scenario where the questions raised acquire a key relevance in the construction of a quality, inclusive and fair school system. In addition, the implementation of various educational policies focused on Indigenous peoples in recent decades make it necessary to examine how educational models, their programs and policies are related to these new dynamics and multicultural perspectives. With a multidisciplinary, multiethnic and multidimensional vision of this phenomenon, Intercultural Education in Chile: Experiences, peoples and territories, seeks to be a contribution in the academic, political and social discussion, for the development of improvements to the educational system. Through an examination and critical review of the historical contexts, the development of public policies, the segregation of Indigenous students and the review of national and international experiences on the subject, the book invites a profound reflection on how we are relating, from an educational perspective, with Indigenous peoples. |
