Sumario:The new interdisciplinary series East Central Europe opens with Kulturpolitik in Ostmittel- und Southeasterneuropa (1945 bis 2015), which emerged from the conference of the same name in October 2016 in cooperation with the Herder Institute in Marburg. The aim of the series is to give space to interdisciplinary, diachronically deep and transnational research that knows how to use the focus and flexibility of the concept of East Central Europe productively and can set new research impulses. In the volume edited by Steffen Höhne, cultural-political developments and concepts in East-Central and South-Eastern Europe between state dominance and market demands and the respective cultural-political interdependencies between the individual states are examined. At the level of public action (cultural policy), the content and results of cultural policy (e.g. cultural-political decision-making processes, evaluation criteria, effects) that are relevant to the period under study are dealt with. At the level of uncontrolled processes (cultural politics), the relevant cultural-political processes (e.g. competing interests, actor actions, orientations, patterns of behavior, mechanisms of influence) are the focus of interest. Finally, at the institutional level (cultural polity), the respective contexts are examined, e.g. With the topic of cultural policy, a comprehensive survey of this usually peripheral political field takes place with specific consideration of the East-Central and South-Eastern European conditions after 1945. Both endogenous and exogenous influences in the individual countries and cultures are worked out, as well as convergent and divergent developments.
