Sumario:Engineering in Germany continues to be a male domain, although efforts have been made for years to balance the gender ratio in these areas. The author explores the question of whether and to what extent the asymmetrical gender ratio is based on the content and cultures of engineering itself. On the basis of interviews with engineers, various key concepts are identified that contribute to maintaining the binary, heteronormative gender relationship in this field.
