Sumario:The "Path to Liberation" (Mokṣopāya) is a Sanskrit text that originated in Kashmir in the 10th century, the core of which goes back to an anonymous author, has spread across India in various versions and above all in the late, often distorted Vulgate -Review has become known under the name "Yogavāsiṣṭha". In terms of content, it is a philosophical explanation of the world, which the sage Vasiṣṭha explains to the king's son Rāma in a long conversation, the main message of which is that nothing that appears as an object and as a subject of one's own knowledge actually exists, but nothing but "spirit" (cit). The aim of this didactically structured instruction is self-liberation from the painful cycle of existence, which does not have to lead to a withdrawal from the world, but to the "already liberated during lifetime" (jīvanmukta) a life in the world free of intent, active and suffering enables. Here, philosophical sections alternate with artfully told stories that are intended to illustrate certain philosophical statements. The 6th "Book on Nirvāṇa" forms the second half of the Mokṣopāya: the spiritually awakened Rāma is now able to grasp the actual point of view (siddhānta) of the textbook. The 1st part becomes the edition of the 5092 stanzas chapters 1-119 of Book 6. It contains 15 stories, including the story of the immortal raven Bhusuṇḍa, whom a philosophically reinterpreted breathing method (prāṇāyāma) led to liberation; an exposition of the god Lord Śiva, which means external and internal worship ( devapūjā) is to be understood from a spiritually enlightened point of view; a spirit-monistic version of the Bhagavadgītā, which will take place in the future from the narrative perspective of Mokṣopāya; and last but not least the long story of Queen Cūḍālā, who, among other things, transforms into a man to help her husband to help liberate knowledge.
