| Sumario: | "From Magna Graecia to Asia Minor" – the title says it all: on the occasion of the 65th birthday of the ancient historian Linda-Marie Günther, 23 contributions by renowned ancient historians and archaeologists reflect the diverse interests of the jubilarian. With a special focus on Greek history, from the archaic to the imperial era, the commemorative publication takes up central themes of Günther's research and teaching. Aspects of the iconography of ancient coins that are particularly important to Günther are dealt with, as are epigraphic sources and problems. Ancient historiography, another hobby of the jubilarian, is the subject of several articles. Investigations into genuine archaeological questions and the ancient world reflect her interdisciplinary interests. Topics as diverse as the organization of the draw of jury judges in democratic Athens, the materials used to cover ancient torsion guns, and the rule and representation of Macedonian kings and their interaction with the Greek cities are examined. Two contributions on the history of reception round off the volume. |
