| 520 | |a 1,175 / 5,000Translation resultsThe 20th century shaped the East Central European region through a wealth of geographical and ethnic shifts, cultural erasures and new appointments, which invite the exploration of their place in the cultural memory of Europe. The anthology brings together 14 contributions by German and Polish scholars on transfer processes between literatures and conceptions of space and time in Lithuanian, Polish, Sorbian and Czech literature of the 20th and 21st centuries. Five contributions are dedicated to the literary construction of cultural spaces, another five to memory spaces. Questions of migration and exile, how to deal with the lost place of origin and the gained arrival space are examined, as well as analyzes of changes in space in times of transformation and of semi-public interiors such as the Czech "hospoda" (tavern). A third group of contributions is explored the literary translation between Polish and Lithuanian, Polish and German, the reception of Polish emigration literature in socialist Poland and the comparison of Polish and German football culture. | ||
