Sumario:The Testament of Abraham is considered one of the most important Old Testament pseudopigrapha. With Volume 76 of the Ethiopian Researches, Martin Heide offers for the first time a critical edition and translation of the Arabic and Ethiopian text witnesses. Special features of the Coptic model and Abraham's Greek testament are pointed out for the Arabic text. The translation of the Ethiopian text discusses the relationship to the Arabic text at important points. Addendums and corrections to Heide's edition of the Testaments of Isaac and Jacob (AethFor 56) are also given in a detailed introduction to the Testament of Abraham and its oriental versions. The Arabic and Ethiopian versions of all three testaments are now available (Abraham's testament, Isaac's testament, Jacob's testament), which together are also referred to as the "testaments of the three patriarchs". On this basis, the question of the literary dependence of the testaments can also be answered Isaac and Jacob of the Testament of Abraham are discussed in detail An index of scriptural quotations concludes the volume.
