Sumario: | Using data from the Luxembourg Income Study of 2003, the authors analyze four measures of gender equality: employment, full-time work status, occupational integration (or segregation if applicable), and wage equality in 21 developed nations. An in-depth analysis of government policies related to length and compensation of maternity or parental leave is performed at a cross-country level, leading to a discussion of institutional gender inequality in the workplace. A special contribution of the analysis is the use of country rankings of gender equality/inequality and also the use of relevant tables and charts as visual aids. |
