Sumario:This is a critical edition of an adaptation of theDiscipline Clericalis, the first western collection of eastern apologues, written between 1105 and 1110 by Petrus Alphonsi. The literary and social impact of this work was profound; we find adaptations of its prologues in the vernacular literatures of western Europe and evidence that medieval ecclesiastics used them in their sermons.
