Sumario: | "This book presents the findings and recommendations of the 2008 National Conference on Undergraduate Education in Psychology. For this conference, 80 psychologists and other academics charged with the task of designing the best possible future for undergraduate education in psychology spent a week at the University of Puget Sound during the summer of 2008. We met in working groups and plenary sessions in which ideas were debated and visions of quality programs in psychology were created. We envisioned a future for higher education in which change could be brought about in a sound, scientific way that would yield long-lasting positive benefits for all of the stakeholders. Conference participants were selected for their commitment to excellence in education in psychology, especially at the undergraduate level. We represented the full range of diversity in psychology, including participants from all levels of education, ranging from high school teachers to those who taught only graduate students. We were a racially diverse mix of early- and late-career psychologists from large and small institutions, including professional schools; from different areas of expertise within psychology; and including people with disabilities and knowledge about disabilities. We invite readers to respond to our call for action and to join with us in the redesign of undergraduate education in ways that can have positive and long-lasting effects on the millions of students worldwide who enroll in undergraduate psychology courses"--Introduction.
