Sumario:"Calgary's Grand Story" is a history of the city as told through the story of the Grand Theatre and the Lougheed Building, two of Calgary's most prominent historic icons. Commissioned by Senator James Lougheed, and his wife, Belle Hardisty Lougheed, the Lougheed building opened to the public in February of 1912 to much fanfare and great anticipation. This was a definitive moment for Calgarians and would mark the beginning of a golden era in the city's history. With the addition of a state-of-the-art theatre on the ground floor beneath offices that would soon become Calgary's premier corporate address, this building would anchor the development of the downtown core well into the 1950s. By mixing business and cultural history, the author sketches a fascinating urban biography of Calgary from 1912 up to Alberta's 100th birthday in 2005
