|a The Renaissance was above all a period of great emergence of human thought and creativity from science and the various arts - painting, architecture, sculpture - to philosophy, poetry, political and legal thought. It was also a period of great transformation in society with the emergence of new models of political and economic organization that brought great dynamism to some regions of Europe, including navigations in the New World, which had, in addition to the Genoese Christopher Columbus, the Florentine Amerigo Vespucci as one of its protagonists. The Renaissance is a multifaceted period that produced innovative works in the most diverse fields from the Corpus Hermeticum to The Prince of Machiavelli, from the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo to the war machines of Leonardo Da Vinci. In the present book Philosophy, Politics and Cosmology: Essays on the Renaissance, organized by Fabrina Magalhães Pinto and Flávia Benevenuto, and including texts by some of the most important specialists in the field in Brazil and abroad, we have a significant contribution to the study of the Renaissance precisely in some of these multiple facets. These contributions, which reflect the research carried out by their authors, as well as the debates that have been developing regularly, focus on three main lines that interpenetrate each other: politics and ethics; the language; and cosmology.
