545 |a Professsor Charlie Ironside, BSc, PhD, FIET, FInstP has over 30 years' experience in semiconductor optoelectronics research and in particular microfabrication of semiconductor photonic components such as nonlinear optical switches, laser diodes and components for optical sensing and optical metrology systems. He has published over 125 research journal publications and 140 conference papers. He has co-authored 5 patents and has won an award for transferring knowledge from university research to industry for commercial exploitation. He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering, Technology (FIET), a Fellow of the Institute of Physics (FInstP) and senior member of the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (IEEE).
