This book examines Democratic and Republican approaches to food policy in the spirit of helping the foodies and farmers see where things stand. The book introduces the reader to the political game of food policy in order to explain "Red" and "Blue" history with food policy. This work introduces the political context for understanding partisan food policy history: the "business" of farming and the "sport" of team politics in American government. It tells the story of Democratic and Republican support for farm and food policies, with the observation that farm and food policy is essentially a social welfare policy-a traditional party fault line.
