The book diagnoses what is currently amiss with the UK?s unwritten0constitution and why, if the Union is to be preserved, it may make sense to establish a formal0federation. It attempts to present objective arguments for and against a federal structure and0concludes that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. A federal structure could maximise0the benefits of cooperation between semi-autonomous regions while at the same time paying due0respect to the nationalisms that exist within constituent parts of the country.
