Sumario:"One of Wisconsin's more recent immigrant groups, the Hmong were recruited by the CIA to fight communists in their home country of Laos during the Secret War of the 1960s and 1970s. When Saigon fell in 1975, the surviving Hmong had to flee for their lives, ending up in refugee camps in Thailand for many years before being relocated to the United States and other countries. Wisconsin is now home to the third largest Hmong population in the country, following California and Minnesota. Told with a mixture of scholarly research and personal experience of the author, who grew up in a Thai refugee camp, Hmong in Wisconsin shares the story of this perilous journey and the Hmong's experiences adapting to life in Wisconsin communities"--
