In light of this, architectural theory should direct its gaze towards people's `living environments' - and not restrict itself to exchanges between architects and architectural critics. Achim Hahn shows that architecture is becoming a kind of empirical science that investigates the experiences of people with architecture. He interrogates key terms such as 'living', 'space', 'design', and 'landscape' in terms of their pre-theoretical meaning for the first time, and in doing so secures them as the basis of theoretical constructions. Architektur wird in Gebrauch genommen. Ihr Ausdruck ist für unser Wohlbefinden von grundsätzlicher Bedeutung. Angesichts dessen sollte sich der Blick der Architekturtheorie auf die "Lebenswelt" der Menschen lenken - und nicht auf einen Austausch zwischen Architekten und Architekturkritikern beschränken. Achim Hahn zeigt: Architekturtheorie wird so zu einer empirischen Wissenschaft, die den Erfahrungen der Menschen mit Architektur nachforscht. Er befragt Schlagworte wie Wohnen, Raum, Entwerfen und Landschaft erstmals auf ihre vortheoretische Umgangsbedeutung hin und gewinnt sie so als Grundlage theoretischer Konstruktionen. |
