|a "During the last ten years Rwanda has experienced one of the most exciting and fastest periods of growth and socio-economic progress in its history. It was tenth fastest growing economy in the world during the decade from 2000. At the same time more than a million people have been lifted out of poverty. Population growth is stabilising and the country is making great strides towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals and middle income status. A perfect developmental "hat trick" of sustained economic growth (8% average), poverty reduction (12% points) and a reduction in income inequality were achieved over the EDPRS 1 period. There were key lessons learned from the EDPRS 1 Self assessment Report from both success and shortcomings that have shaped the EDPRS 2 elaboration"--Abstract
