Sumario:This special issue of Advanced Materials Research contains a selection of high-quality research papers presented at the 14th International Conference on Advances in Materials and Processing Technologies (AMPT) held in Istanbul, Turkey, on July 13-16th, 2011. The papers are related mainly to materials and processing technologies, and the aim of the book is to provide a basis for the identification of new research and development needs in the fields of advanced engineering materials and manufacturing technologies. This large collection of articles on materials science, drawn from papers delivered at the fourteenth International Conference on Advances in Material and processing Techniques, held in Istanbul, Turkey in July, 2011, presents current scholarship in a wide variety of topics related to materials engineering and production. Essays are grouped by topic including deformation processing, forming in melt or near melt conditions, powder forming, laser processing, new and advanced material production, surface engineering, welding, and nano-technologies. Articles include keywords, abstracts, illustrations, and formulas, and both keyword and author indexes are provided. Contributors are academics and researchers from universities and laboratories in the Middle East and around the world.
