The guide covers lots of issues like staying in touch with friends and family, food, care, and education, working together, health, getting the special help young people need, and hobbies. It also explains how the school should be managed and how to make a complaint or what to do if the Standards are being broken. This staff guide to residential special schools is part of the series of guides about the National Minimum Standards for Residential Special Schools. It has been produced by the Children's Residential Care Unit of the National Children's Bureau with DfES funding.
