| Sumario: | The Berne song book originates from the last third of the 13th century and is often considered marginal because of the Lorraine dialect and the corrupted delivery. Here it is analysed in depth for the first time. It includes a linguistic and material analysis of the manuscript followed by a new edition of 53 anonymous poems. Each poem is presented as a diplomatic transcription with critical editorial commentary. A synoptic index allows the reader to place the manuscript within the wider context of the written tradition of older northern French poetry. |
