Sumario:Otfried of Weissenburg?s Evangelienbuch [Book of the Gospels] written in Old High German and completed between 863 and 871 is one of the most significant literary works of the Carolingian era. The present study is concerned with the rediscovery and analysis of this work in the period from 1500 to 1830. The study focuses on the rediscoveries of the actual manuscripts together with editions of the text and efforts to interpret the work. Thus the book uses an actual case study to further the history of German Studies in the Early Modern Age.
