Around 1720 in Fez Amad b. al-Mubrak al-Lama, a religious scholar, wrote down the words and teachings of the Sufi master Abd al-Azz al-Dabbgh. Al-Dabbgh shunned religious studies but, having reached illumination met with the Prophet Muhammad.
