Im September 1794 bekamen Johann Georg Stuber und Oberlin die ehrenvolle Erwähnung des Nationalkonvents. Schon in diesem Jahr, wie in der folgenden Zeit, erscheinen Texte von Zeitgenossen, die bezeugen, dass Oberlin eine bekannte Persönlichkeit geworden ist. Seine moralische Autorität wird anerkannt, und in den folgenden Jahren wird er sogar zum Vertrauensmann der politischen und zivilen Behörden für verschiedene örtliche Probleme. Es ist auch zum Ausgang der Revolution, wo sich durch Henri Gottfried, dem Sohn Oberlin's, die Kontakte der Familie zu dem schweitzer Pfarrer, Johann Caspar Lavater, vertiefen. Im Jahr 1802 beginnt die Neuordnung der evangelischen Kirche von Elsass und Lothringen. Oberlin hat seinen natürlichen Platz in der neuen Struktur. Februar 2018. Gustave Koch. C'est avec une certaine satisfaction que je vois paraître ce tome 4 de la Correspondance d'Oberlin. Il couvre les années 1794 à 1802. C'est en septembre 1794 que Jean Georges Stuber et Oberlin obtiennent la mention honorable de la Convention nationale. Déjà en cette année et dans les années suivantes seront publiés des textes de contemporains qui témoignent de la notoriété du pasteur du Ban-de-la-Roche. Son autorité morale sera reconnue et, dans les années suivantes, il deviendra l'homme de confiance de responsables politiques et administratifs pour aider à régler des problèmes locaux. C'est aussi à la sortie de la Révolution, que grâce à Henri Gottfried, fils d'Oberlin, les contacts de la famille avec le célèbre pasteur suisse, Johann Caspar Lavater, s'intensifient. En 1802 commence la réorganisation des Eglises protestantes en Alsace et en Lorraine par la mise en place de nouvelles structures légales. Oberlin y a naturellement sa place. Février 2018.
