This book is not intended to provide an exhaustive introduction to all aspects of quantum mechanics. Our main goal has been to present an elementary introduction to the methods of field quantization and their applications in many-body physics as well as to special aspects of atomic and nuclear physics. We hope to attain this goal by presenting the subjects in considerable detail, explaining the mathematical tools in a rather informal way, and by including a large number of examples and worked exercises. |
