Sumario:This book offers a look at the struggle for rights and equality in one of the most active and broad-based community organizing operations in the South. The book chronicles the arduous process of bringing early leaders - mainly farmers and town dwellers - into a coalition with the schoolteachers, preachers, and others professionals. Together, the coalition achieved success in electing the first Black representative in the 20th century to sit in the Mississippi House.
