The Maryland campaign of September 1862. Vol. 1, South Mountain /
When Lee marched his army into Maryland in 1862, so began some of the bloodiest and influential combat of the war. Combined with failures in the West, the fighting dashed the Confederacy's best hope for independence, and left America with its bloodiest day in history.
