This book explores the current crisis and examines how it is linked to the field's ambiguous relation to postcolonial literary texts by taking a critical look at the relation between postcolonial studies and the idea of the literary. While postcolonial scholars have continuously attempted to expand their scope and frames of reference, the academic field of postcolonial studies is still to a large extent situated in literary departments, even if the literary has often been given little attention.
