The current survey, Physics 2010, is now in progress and is expected to be finished by 2010." "Physics 2010 comprises a series of books exploring the various disciplines of the field; a final volume will address physics as a whole. Each volume incorporates an assessment and outlook prepared by an independent study committee. The purpose of the survey is (1) to provide a snapshot of the field that helps track and enhance understanding of the evolution of the science, and (2) to identify and promote compelling emerging scientific opportunities." "The first book of the Physics 2010 series is Revealing the Hidden Nature of Space and Time: Charting the Course for Elementary Particle Physics (The National Academies Press, 2006).
